G. Lee

I write as G. Lee Nash in sci-fi/speculative.

And I will be writing as G. Lee Dornik in Thriller/Suspense (First thriller novel underway)

What can I say about myself that readers would find interesting? I honestly don't know. I was born and raised in Sydney Australia. I prefer cats over dogs, coffee over tea, and cars over bikes. But that is pretty much exactly what I put in the back of my books. I've written books, scripts, poems, songs and all manner of things, for my whole life. I love it. I will continue to write whether or not anyone else ever reads it. And I suppose, as an author, that is the most important thing to know.

If you enjoy my books, please consider requesting them at your local library. Reader requests help libraries decide which titles to carry, and it’s a wonderful way to share stories with your community.

If you'd like to be considered for my ARC team, please email contact@bearbootbooks with ARC Dornik or ARC Nash and a short paragraph about why you would like to join.

If you'd like to contact me directly, please email gl.dornik@bearbootbooks.com. Though response times may vary, I will try to get back to you in a reasonable timeframe.

My stance on AI

With the advent of AI flooding just about every corner of the internet, apps, and creative industry, everyone has a stance. And rather than hedge and grumble and be performative in my feelings, I am just going to give it to you straight.

When AI first got introduced to MS Word, I unsubbed. I do not want that crap anywhere near my creative work. I have a visceral distrust of it existing inside my document, and so I moved to libre office, and haven't looked back.

Now, that being said, I do not have a big issue with LLM's in general, just with it being stuffed into my creative spaces. I will never allow AI to change ANYTHING in my documents. Though I personally do not understand what is wrong with using it as a tool for research and grammar checks, so long as you double check the answers it gives you, because the damn things can be wrong fairly often. So long as you are the one who writes the entire manuscript without any creative input or suggestions from the AI, and all changes, revisions, edits (including grammar! The AI can point them out, but you have to make those final changes!) are done by the author, I don't honestly see an issue. I feel I might be too harsh for some, and too lenient to others, here. But I am a person who believes in nuance. And this is my personal line.

If you feel an ethical objection to this line, that is your right. But it doesn't change mine.

At the end of the day, I enjoy writing. The craft of it. Creating a story from nothing in my head, and re-writing sentences ad nauseum until it sounds right. Getting uncomfortable feedback and pushing to make myself better, because that's what love can do. My latest book should always outshine the one that came before. That is my goal. I do not churn. A book takes as long as it takes. Maybe as little as three months to write, three months to edit. Maybe one day it might take less. But it is often more.

I believe this is what an Author is. And it is what you will always get from me.
